Heart Clinic

Care That Follows You From the First Symptom Onward From the moment a symptom first gives you pause,
through treatment, recovery,
and long-term prevention,
your care continues without interruption.

Pre-Operative Cardiac Risk Assessment reviews current heart health, medication management, and the need for testing before non-cardiac surgery, shown with a predicted-outcomes report comparing a patient's risk of complications, infection, readmission, and death against average risk. Evaluation is recommended when a surgeon requests cardiology consultation, when surgery is planned with angina, prior heart attack, arrhythmia, or heart failure, when taking antiplatelet or anticoagulant medication, or when medical clearance is needed for hypertension or diabetes.

How the Evaluation Works

Your physician selects the testing appropriate to your symptoms and risk factors.

Frequently Asked
Questions

A few things worth knowing before your visit.

Do I Need to Stop Aspirin Before Knee Surgery?
Not necessarily.
The reason for aspirin use, such as protecting a coronary stent or preventing stroke, must be weighed against the surgical bleeding risk.
Consult a cardiologist to determine whether and when to stop taking it.
How Long Does It Take to Receive a Cardiac Evaluation Report?
Required tests are completed at the first visit, and the report is usually available the next day.
Same-day issuance may be available for urgent cases. Please ask when booking.
Who Should Have a Cardiovascular Risk Assessment?
Those with hypertension, diabetes, high cholesterol, a family history of heart disease, smoking, obesity, or abdominal obesity may benefit from an assessment.
Adults over 40 may also consider having at least one assessment.
How Is a Cardiovascular Risk Assessment Different from a General Checkup?
A general checkup evaluates your overall health.
A cardiovascular risk assessment focuses on heart and vascular health,
estimates future risk, and guides a management plan.
What Happens If My Risk Is High?
Depending on your risk factors, care may include lifestyle changes, weight management, medication, or further testing. Early management can significantly reduce cardiovascular risk.
