The Heart Clinic Diagnostics

Precise Testing for a Clearer Picture of Your Health Our diagnostic testing is designed to help evaluate
your heart and vascular health, including changes that
may occur
before symptoms appear, and to help guide
a care plan suited to your individual risk factors.

24-hour ambulatory blood pressure monitoring: a small monitor worn through the day and night gives a precise picture of how blood pressure changes during normal activity and sleep Hypertension diagnostic thresholds by measurement method, comparing office blood pressure, 24-hour ambulatory averages, daytime and nighttime averages, and home blood pressure

4 Reasons 24-hour BP Monitoring
Is Essential

The clinical setting itself can temporarily raise your blood pressure.
Feeling nervous or anxious in front of a doctor can raise blood pressure
by 20 mmHg or more. This is called white-coat hypertension —
when readings are elevated in the clinic but normal in daily life.
Without identifying it, patients may end up on unnecessary medication —
while, conversely, true hypertension can be missed. 24-hour ABPM
is considered the gold-standard method for distinguishing between the two.

Accurately measuring blood pressure in daily life

24-hour monitoring distinguishes white-coat hypertension from a true sustained elevation and helps prevent unnecessary medication.

Masked hypertension occurs when blood pressure appears normal
in the clinic but stays persistently elevated during daily life.
It carries a cardiovascular risk nearly equivalent to
untreated hypertension. It's especially common in patients with diabetes,
smokers, and those who are obese. Because it can never be identified
by an office blood pressure reading alone, patients may be unaware
they have hypertension even as significant organ damage is already underway.

Detecting hypertension hidden outside the clinic

24-hour monitoring reveals elevated daytime or nighttime patterns that cannot be identified from office readings alone.

In healthy individuals, blood pressure typically drops by 10–20% during sleep
compared to daytime — a pattern known as "dipping." In some patients,
however, blood pressure doesn't drop during the night (non-dipping),
or may even rise. Nocturnal hypertension is a strong predictor of stroke,
heart failure, and kidney damage. Because blood pressure during sleep
is essentially impossible to measure with a standard home cuff,
24-hour ABPM is the only test that can capture this nighttime pattern.

Assessing blood pressure while you sleep

Ambulatory monitoring is the only practical way to evaluate nighttime blood pressure and identify abnormal dipping patterns.

The sharp rise in blood pressure that occurs right after waking is known as
the "morning surge." It's a key reason why cardiovascular events like
stroke and heart attack occur most frequently during this window
of the day. 24-hour ABPM precisely captures your blood pressure
pattern around waking, allowing your treatment to be tailored accordingly.

Capturing the morning blood pressure pattern

24-hour monitoring records the change before and after waking so treatment can be tailored to the patient's daily pattern.
